How to grow chilies in polybags is easy to do. Chili cultivation can be done either in the highlands or lowlands. Chilies can grow well in areas that are at 0-2000 meters above sea level.

The good temperature for chili cultivation is 24-27 degrees Celsius, but chili can also survive in temperatures that are more than that. This is influenced also by the type of varieties chili grown.

One type of chili that is sliced to be planted in the yard is a type of curly chili. This type of chili is relatively resistant to tropical climates, the spicy taste makes this chili favored by the community. The following will discuss how to grow curly chili in a poly bag.

Seedling of Chili Seeds




How to grow chilies in polybags should not be directly planted with chili seeds directly into a polybag, but must pass the seeding stage in the seedling media.

The seeding process is useful for selecting seed growth and separating chili seeds that have poor quality such as growing stunted, deformed, or having a disease. In addition, seeding also serves to maintain the readiness of the seedlings before planting on a wider area.

The place to sow chili seeds in polybags usually uses a small size of 8 x 9 cm. If there is no polybag, you can use banana leaves, trays, or make soil beds. The most economical way is to make a plot of land for nurseries.

Make a plot of soil with sufficient size, then make a mixture of soil with compost and stir until blended. The soil mixture is made as smooth as possible so that the roots of the plant can penetrate easily. Make the thickness of the ground map no more than 5-10 cm, on top of the map make a range with a distance of 10 cm.

Put the chili seeds into the run with a distance of about 7.5 cm then flush with water to soak the soil and cover using ash or soil. After that, close the run using a wet burlap sack for 3-4 days. Keep the gunny sack wet by watering it regularly with water.

Chili seeds are ready to be transferred to the planting area when they are 3-4 weeks old or if they have grown 3-4 leaves.

To grow chili in a polybag, polybags with sizes above 30 cm are needed, so that this growing medium can strongly support the growth of lush chili plants. In addition to using large size polybags, you can also use plastic, earthen, cement or ceramic pots. Or you can also use used containers that are no longer used. Give enough holes to the container as a drainage hole.

How to grow chilies in polybags can use planting media made from a mixture of soil, manure, compost, husk charcoal, rice husks, and other planting media. Please read the types of planting media for a more detailed explanation. Some examples of the composition of planting media are:
